CMA-CGM reduces emissions

Although it is said that the sector of road transport and air transport are the ones that emit the most emissions into the atmosphere, we must not forget other methods of transport such as shipping companies, which also contribute to CO² emissions. to the atmosphere.

Many steps are currently being taken to reduce emissions in all areas of transport, opting for ecology and for research into new technologies or fuels that are more respectful of the environment.

In spite of this, a radical change can not be produced because there is no energy that can change everything overnight. That is why it is going little by little and the emissions are being reduced, like what has been done from the transport company CMA-CGM.

This company has reduced by 4% its polluting emissions for each container that is transported. In this way it maintains the commitment in the fight against the global warming that they have been carrying out for quite some time.

According to the company, they have managed to reduce their carbon footprint during 2016, which means that they can achieve their goals for the next year 2025.

It has been highlighted that one of the objectives that is present from CMA-CGM is to be able to reach a total reduction of 30% in terms of its emissions until next year 2015. Likewise, its emissions by container have been reduced by 50%. every kilometer traveled between the years 2005 and 2015.

As they have stated, the results have been achieved thanks to important details such as the optimization of operations, especially in relation to exports through its Fleet Support Center as well as the bow bulbs that have the ability to improve the hydrodynamics of ships and also the technological innovations that are appearing little by little.

It has confirmed the construction of huge container ships, which are equipped with the most efficient technologies and has also launched a program that has been named Eco-container to build containers more respectful with nature.

For this reason, CMA-CGM has signed an agreement with Engie, a pioneer in everything related to the development of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a fuel for maritime transport. In this way, the objective is to jointly promote the impulse of LNG in container ships in the coming years.
